Watch D.O.G.S.

Who are WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students)?

WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S.®  school. 

 

During the day, WatchDOGS can sign up to:

  • Play at recess

  • Eat lunch with students

  • Assist with arrival and/or dismissal

WatchDogs are given a brief review of their involvement and will wear an official Watch D.O.G.S. vest borrowed from the school to identify themselves for students and staff.​

​

Many school principals have reported that the mere presence of a WatchDOG dramatically reduces reports of bullying. 

​

Benefits of becoming a Watch D.O.G.S
By taking time to come to campus and serve, students gain a positive  male role model who demonstrates that education is important. The presence of a father or father-figure provides an additional deterrent to bullying, enhances a sense of security in the building, and helps create an environment conducive to learning.

A male role model can positively impact a student’s life in three critical areas: 

  1. Academic Performance

  2. Self-Esteem

  3. Social Behavior

​

This program not only helps our students, but fathers and father-figures gain greater awareness of student’s challenges. They learn about the increasingly complex issues and decisions today’s youth are facing. As a result, they can learn to relate better to their student and hopefully, connect with them at a deeper level.
