Dudes on Duty

Are you a "dude" that wants to volunteer at your child's school? Do you want to volunteer doing things other than decorating class room doors and helping at holiday parties?

Dudes on Duty is a program Haslet Elementary PTA started in 2022 to get "dudes" in our community involved at Haslet Elementary. We love volunteers for party planning and door decorating but we know that isn't for everyone. Whether you are a dad, grandpa, uncle or neighbor, we'd love for you to be a part of our school in a new and exciting way. The primary goal for the program is to provide positive male presence in our school while also providing extra eyes and ears to enhance school security.

As we piloted the program, Dudes were primarily used as an extra layer of security at arrival and dismissal times to greet students as they arrived or assisted in getting kids safely to their busses or cars at the end of the day.

As we expand the program in 2023, more opportunities will be available for the Dudes on Duty. These opportunities include:

  • Greeting students at front and rear entrances.

  • Providing weekly security checks on all entrances of the school per new guidelines established by the TEA this year.

  • Lunch and recess duty to encourage student engagement and enhance student safety.

  • Event specific security duties.

What we need from you to be a "Dude":

  • 30 minutes of your time to volunteer.

  • Complete Volunteer 101, district required class. Watch the power point presentation here.

  • Complete the short google questionaire here

  • Complete an NISD required background check

  • Sign up to volunteer here!
